Martha's Vineyard

We took a quick trip to Martha's Vineyard this week. I realized why I love all the towns of Martha's Vineyard so much... it reminds me of Oswego. They are both old fishing/harbor towns where the sunset is beautiful with the lighthouses in the view. We were in Martha's Vineyard because we were doing the leg-work to get our wedding photography business name out on Martha's Vineyard and we needed to pick up our PO Box keys and do some other things. We joined the Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce and even got a chance to go to a business after hours event. We met so many great people while we were there. We will be listed on their website in a few days. I cannot wait to go back and actually have jobs!

The Vineyard Haven harbor as we came in on the ferry.

Vineyard Haven harbor right before sunset. The color was amazing.

Unfortunatly the clouds rolled in and disrupted the sunset.

"Dock without a home"

Isaac and our moped that we rented. It was the best way to drive around the island. I am totally going to buy one of these one day.

Telegraph hill & East Chop lighthouse built in 1869. There is a beautiful grassy knoll overlooking the water where people have wedding ceremonies. I hope to photograph a wedding ceremony here soon!

As the sunset rolled in. It reminded me of Oswego where the sunsets with the Oswego lighthouse in the horizon.

Admiral Benbow's inn was our choice of accommodation this visit. It is located about 1 mile west of Oak Bluffs. What a beautiful house with gorgeous gardens, wonderful breakfast, and great hosts!

Casey & Ahren's Wedding in Syracuse,NY

We are in Saratoga Springs, NY right now! I decided I wanted a reason to visit my hometown more often so we are doing business in the area now. We have a bunch of Saratoga area weddings lined up for this season and next season. I just love all the buildings and parks there are to take photos in!
This weekend Isaac and I photographed the joyous wedding of Casey & Ahren. It was such a great day despite the horrible storm we got caught in on the way to the reception. This lovely couple tied the knot at St. Leo's church in Tully. It was a great ceremony in a beautiful church. Then it was off to take photos with the bridal party at Onondaga Park. I had never been to this park before so it was a treat to have new textures and scenery to play with! We were able to get some great shots while the thunder and lighten rolled in. Then it was off to the Holiday Inn on Carrier Circle in Syracuse,NY. The reception started off a little late, but once it got going people were dancing machines. Whirlin Disc DJ's kept the party alive long after we were gone.
You two are such a cute couple. Thank you for letting us be a part of your day. Keep loving each other and I hope you get to go on an crazy awesome honeymoon soon!

Branching out!

***Kathy & Ed's photos are available to view online now. just go to our client proofing page***
What a wonderful week it has been. I have been super busy since it is now prime time wedding season. I love this time of year more than I love Christmas time. It is so exciting for me to watch a new couple confess their love for each other every weekend. Isaac and I are off to Tully & Syracuse this weekend for a wedding. Sunday is Isaac's birthday so we will be celebrating that and then heading over to Saratoga Springs this week. Friday was Isaacs last day of teaching. his grades are handed in and his room is cleaned up. So the first thing we are doing is skipping town. I haven't seen my folks in quite some time now, so we are due a visit. During the week we are hoping to meet with prospective brides and grooms since our business is now in Saratoga as well. We are also going to take a mini-trip to Martha's Vineyard to talk with some people about our wedding photography and to pick up our Mailbox keys... how exciting! Enjoy this photo we took of ourselves for our press releases in Saratoga & Martha's Vineyard.

Kathy & Ed's wedding

This past weekend we were blessed with two weddings. On Friday we had Ed & Kathy Healy's wedding and on Saturday we had the afternoon wedding of Jon & Stacey Crego (I will post a preview of their wedding tomorrow).
Today I wanted to highlight Ed & Kathy's wedding. I have known Kathy for about 2 years now. She was a bridesmaid in a wedding we shot in the summer of 2006. Since then she has been in contact with us about her wedding. She was in another bridal party in the spring of 2005, where we got to know her even better. It wasn't until a few months ago that I got introduced to Ed. This Friday we got to witness the spark between these two lovebirds. Kathy was a radient bride while Ed was all smiles! We started off the day split up. I met the girls at Kathy's house for a few hours while they got ready, and Isaac met the boys while they got ready. With such a large bridal party (24 in total) it was nice to have that relaxed time to get to know everyone beforehand.
Their ceremony took place at St. Mary's church in Oswego. There were the most beautiful flowers hanging off the sides of the pews. Kathy Added a nice touch to the wedding by hiring the Syracuse Scottish Pipe band to play outside the church before and after the ceremony. They were great to listen to. After the ceremony we headed off to Breitbeck park to take some fun shots of the bridal party. What a crazy bridal party, you two have great friends! We were lucky enough to not have any bad weather during the photos.
Next we were off to the reception at the American Foundry... the same place Isaac and I had our wedding reception more than 3 years ago. I just gotta say... what a spread! The Foundry, with help from Maidas Florist, created one of the most spectacular reception rooms ever! It was magical. I am so happy I stopped by the Foundry before the ceremony because I was able to get some amazing shots of the room all decorated before it got all messed up.
The reception started with a grand procession lead by the Syracuse Scottish Pipe Band. Ed made a toast to their friend who died a few years ago. There wasn't a dry eye in the room after he was done... including myself (I'm quite an emotional person).
We had a wonderful time at the reception. Kathy did an amazing job planning all the little details. They had a huge wedding with over 350 guests with amazing food, drinks, and music by The Critics (A high-energy band I highly recommend). Thanks for having us document your day guys. We will always remember of your wedding. The photos will be up within 10 days, Until then enjoy these preview photos. Have a wonderful time in Aruba!

Post numero DOS

I know I am not supposed to post twice in one day, and especially twice before lunch... but I am so excited to tell you and I cannot wait another minute to say...

I am now listed on www.ASaratogaWedding.com

Click on photographers to the left. Right now I am on the tip top of the page. I grew up in Saratoga Springs and I have been anxious to branch out into the area for a while now. This week was the right timing seeing as we already have 3 Saratoga Weddings this year!

My business is a moving and a shaking lately. With having advertising and weddings all around the country I decided it was also the right timing to get a 1-800 number. Well in my case it is 1-877 number. None the less here it is:

1-877-601-6809

Have toll free number... will travel! Have a great weekend!

Jon & Stacey's E-session

Stacey & Jon will be getting married this Saturday at Breitbeck Park. Their story is incredible. In short he is in the ARMY and is stationed in Hawaii and she has been living in Oswego. They have been living apart from each other and after the wedding Stacey will be moving to be with Jon in Hawaii... to live happily ever after. Being an ARMY wife myself I understand what Stacey went through. I am so happy that they will be able to be together for some time.
Jon is getting deployed this fall so both Stacey & I thought it would be a great idea to take this opportunity and go take an engagement session. This way they have some amazing photos of each other they can look at while they are apart. Stacey holds the Fort dear to her heart so we decided to venture on over and take photos down by the railroad tracks and the water. The sun was bright, the temperature wasn't too hot, and there was a slight breeze. We took about 45 minutes wandering around the edge of the lake to get these shots, come back next week to see some sneak peeks of their wedding photos!

Lauren & Mark

Yesterday I was able to get outside between storms to shoot a portrait of Lauren & Mark. As some of you may know I have an older sister who lives in Charlotte,NC.... Lauren! They came up this week with their son Andrew. They spent the night at our house on Monday. Tuesday morning I wake up to Andrew saying "Where's Isaac". Andrew had seen Isaac walk past his room while getting ready for work so Andrew thought he would go find him. I am not a morning person, but it really put a smile on my face to see my 3 yr old Nephew at the foot of my bed.
So Lauren & Mark have been married for almost 6 years now. They haven't had any nice photos of them taken since their wedding so Lauren thought it would be nice to get some taken while they are up here. She has always wanted photos on train tracks, so we sought out the abandoned track by Fort Ontario in Oswego. I choose mostly b&w because that is what they like as a couple. Enjoy!
