People ask why hire a professional:

A lot of people have come up to me lately asking why they should hire a professional. Here is some of my input.
This past week I officially joined PPSNY, short for Professional Photography Society of New York. I am very excited to be a part of a very prestigious organization. PPSNY is the state branch of PPA (Professional Photographers of America). Sorry for all the acronyms. Isaac and I feel that to better our business and to better our photography it is extremely important to be a part of something bigger. By being accountable to a larger organization we stay on top of our business practices and photography skills. I was away all last week at a photography workshop with 100 other photographers. The skills learned and friendships made will help me become a better photographer. That is why hiring a professional photographer, like myself, is worth paying for.
When you hire a professional photographer you not only get a person who knows their equipment inside and out, you also get a person that has a better understanding of what makes a photograph perfect. Professional photographers have trained eyes, who will get the shot no matter what. Any person can buy a digital camera and know how to push the shutter button and take a picture. Not everyone knows how to take a true photograph which includes composition, lighting, posing, and how to capture the true emotion of your day, while dealing with time restrictions and crowd control. This all goes for printing photographs as well.

What a week!!!

I just got back from a week in Geneva. I was at a photography workshop put on by the Professional Photographers Society of New York, so sorry if I haven't returned an e-mail or phone call yet. I had so much fun and learned A LOT of new things. I have this new found love for portraits. I love the emotion that a professional portrait can capture. Yesterday right after I got back from my workshop Isaac and I packed up our car and headed to Syracuse to shoot Heather and Dan's wedding. It was a beautiful day filled with laughter. I will post some images of their wedding after I show you a photograph that I took tonight. This evening Isaac and I drove down to Marcellus and took a family portrait at their house. There were 10 adults and 7 children. What a great time we had! We couldn't have asked for any better weather. Here is one photo from the session. Once I get some more time and it isn't 1am I will post some more of my favorites.

Okay here are some from Heather and Dan's Wedding:

New NEWS

New news? Isn't all news NEW? Anyways I have caught up on all of my work so I have a couple extra minutes before I dive into printing out some photos for a client.

Well I have finally joined Syracusewedding.com as a vendor. I have been to a couple of their amazing bridal shows and have had intentions of joining for over a year now. I finally realized that I needed to go ahead and sign up. So now my business will be listed on SyracuseWedding.com.

Exciting day for me! I am in the process of packing and getting ready for my photography workshop I am going to this Sunday. Isaac and I try to attend at least 1 workshop every year to keep up on our photography skills and trends in weddings/Portraits. This year I am going to Geneva, NY and will be venturing into Lifestyle Portraiture for a week. I feel like I could use a freshening up of my portrait and lighting skills. So if you call us next week I will not be here, but Isaac & Maggie will be in the office all week. I will have my laptop with me in hopes of finding some WIFI connection in the area so I can stay connected to all of you via e-mail.

Alright well I have to start on my new project for the day. Have a great day.

Michael & Michelle's wedding

It is after 1am and I am up very late because I drank too much coffee at the wedding. Today Isaac and I shot Michael & Michelle Baroody's wedding. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful at St Stephen's church in Oswego. Then we headed over to Bayshore Grove right on Lake Ontario to take some photos and wait for the reception to start. The rain held up long enough to get a bunch of shots with many different people. We really enjoyed the DJ's, who were Sound Junction, out of Fulton. They kept the party rolling without being obnoxious.
I had an idea tonight that it would be cool to burn a DVD of the photographs right before we leave the reception. This way the bride and groom can take the photos with them on the ride to their honeymoon spot. The photos would have to be completely unedited, that is why I am not quite sure about the idea. I will think it over and let you know. What do you guys think about it?
I really enjoy being a part of your special day. Best wishes and have fun in Hawaii!

Lucky Sevens!

Today is finally hear. Some people say it will be their luckiest day ever. We have two weddings today. Isaac and I are splitting up for the first time. I will be shooting Jennifer & Anthony's wedding in Oswego while Isaac travels up to Alex Bay to shoot Jillian & Justin's wedding. We will try to post some images from their weddings ASAP.

Sorry I never got around to posting images from last weekends weddings. We had two weddings, which makes us very busy the week following. Here is a photo from both of their weddings:

If you have been trying to look at both of their online photo galleries I apologize that the photos are not yet ready. They should be up by Tuesday. Well time to get ready for a wedding :-) Have a lucky day
