Keith & Lisa's Wedding

Wow what an excellent day! We just got back from shooting Keith & Lisa Hibbert's wedding. It was quite a hot day but everyone had great spirits. It was a 10 hour day for us so I will keep this short! We had a wonderful time getting to know all of the family and friends present. The ceremony was at St. Josephs in Oswego and the reception was at The Oasis in Fulton. We shoot photos at Fort Ontario. It was like a dream come true for a photographer. If you want awesome wedding photographs and you don't mind taking a little more time for photos you should definitely consider going INSIDE the Fort. Today there was a reenactment! It was so cool to have that going on while we were shooting our photos. Their photos will be online by the middle of next week. Don't forget to go to our "Online Proofs" page, find and click on Lisa & Keith's name and put your e-mail address down so once the photos are online you will be notified.
Isaac and I will be out of town until late Monday night. We are going into Saratoga to say goodbye to an old friend who is moving to California and to take photos for the Saratoga Racetrack. Here are some photos from the night as well as a poster I made for Lisa & Keith:

Sandi & Brooks's Photos are online!

Hello all! I hope you had a great week. I just wanted to let you know that Sandi & Brooks Beshures's photos are online. So go to our "Online Proofs" page and click on their name. We started out the afternoon with Maggie & I going to their house and taking photos of the girls while Isaac went to Brooks's parents house. They rented a limo from S&S limo out of Rochester. We highly recommend S&S. Their vehicles are great but best of all their drivers are very nice and professional. The ceremony was at St. Mary's Church in Oswego, We always love photographing at St. Mary's! It is such a gorgous church, defenitly inspiring! During the ceremony there was a short thunderstorm. It was very cool to hear the low roar of the thunder while they were reciting their vows. It sure made me feel the presence of God during their ceremony. We took some quick shots at St. Mary's and then headed on over to BayShore Grove. It was raining out, but through the clouds and the rain there was an amazing sunset. Unfortunatly it didnt not last long enough, and the bridal party arrived after it went down. What a fun filled night. Visa-Versa Entertainment kept the party going (www.vvep.com/). If you are getting married in the near future you need to give Brian a call! We have worked with Visa Versa a couple of times and we have nothing but rave reviews. Their playlists, MCing, and equipment are all top notch. Congrats again
I Will post some photos from their wedding some other time. It's Friday and I gotta take a night Off :-D

Getting excited for fall

Sorry I haven't blogged lately. We have had a couple portrait shots as well as weddings and all the office work during the week. Isaac and I went away from Saturday to Monday. We went camping up to the Adirondacks. It was nice to be outside, where there is no computers, phone service, or work to do.
This week we have been busy bees getting ready for your fall portrait season. This is our busiest time for portraits as the weather is just right and the leaves look beautiful. We have signed up to take portraits at the Ontario Orchards Fall Jamboree this year. We will be taking portraits with hay, cornstalks, pumpkins, and other assorted fall "accessories". We will be printing most of the photographs on site! So come to the Fall Jamboree the 2nd to last weekend in September and get your portrait taken! No sitting fee.
For the more extensive portrait sessions give us a call! We are taking dates now for our fall portrait sittings. We like to take our time shooting and showing you the photos afterwards so we do not do more than 2 portraits in a day. We work around your schedule!

Don't forget to check out our window display at the Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce until the end of August.

New products & Chamber Window

Hello! We have been busy catching up on work and ordering new products. For the month of August Kain's Photography is showcasing their work at the Chamber of Commerce in Oswego. So get out there and check the display out! We got a new lighting set up which is so much fun! And its portable which is awesome too. We have started printing on canvas which is mounted on 1 1/2" stretcher boards. When you put a photograph on canvas it then becomes a piece of art comparable to the old oil paintings the made during the Victorian era. The canvas looks amazing. I will take a picture of the finished product in a couple days. In addition to offering our images on canvas we are now offering posters. This is a trendy, less expensive way to showcase you favorite photographs. We offer sizes up to 30-40" in both the canvas and poster. If you are interested in seeing either before you order just let me know and you can come look at them. We also got T-shirts for events where we are not required to dress up or for day to day office-work. They look so nice. We got them done at Hometown Embroidery in Oswego. They do an amazing job! I have attached a couple photos of our new things! Have a great evening

Me holding our new poster. I just got it in the mail today so it is still curly from being mailed in a tube. This one is 16x24"

Merritt-Borisov wedding

I just wanted to let everyone know that the photos have not yet been posted to Heather and Dan's wedding. Isaac and I took our yearly week off to "revitalize" ourselves in the middle of this hectic season. With that being said everything has been pushed back a week or two. I am sorry for any problems this may have caused, this is not are normal procedure, we usually get them online between 7-10 days. We did not want to rush getting the photos online because Heather and Dan's photos deserve as much time and effort as every other wedding. I will let you all know once the photos are up.

Also our email is up and working for the meantime! So go ahead and send us your messages to Jenna@KainsPhotography.com

Have a great weekend

MY Family portrait

Today the family party continued. Isaac and I took a short bike ride through the Saratoga State Park. It was great to get out and enjoy the weather. When we got home we got a chance to feel what it is like to be on the other side of the camera. We took family portraits. With this new found love of portraiture I realized how important it is to get a portrait of my own family. We had a great time! In the evening we celebrated my nephew, Andrew's, 2nd birthday. He was so cute with his truck cake. Here are some selected photos from today! We will be home Tomorrow around dinner time!

Hello!!! I am in Saratoga right now with my family. Today we went to the racetrack. It was a great time. Isaac and I went with 2 dollars and bet on one race and then left with $3.80. WooHoo we're rich. Anyways I will attach photos from the racetrack later on. I need to let everyone know that our email is down right now. We have no clue why and the "Technicians" on the phone have no clue about anything either. I have created a new mail account to have mail sent to until this problem is resolved. So if you want to send an e-mail to us could you please send it to Jenna@KainsPhotography.com AND Kainsphotography@gmail.com Also if you haven't received a reply back from an e-mail you sent already this is why. Fun weekend

This Saturday my best friends Jessmyn and Matt got married at Fallbrook in Oswego. What a fun couple of days. Since Thursday I have had at least 10 people spending the night at my house. Isaac and I LOVE having people over and being hosts to groups. I was a bridesmaid for Jessmyn, and also the only one at the wedding of 170 people that live in Oswego, So i was "home base". Friday morning the bridal party and I all went over to Fallbrook to decorate. If you want a special location that is different from the normal reception hall check out Fallbrook lodge on the SUNY Oswego campus. Then Friday night we had the rehersal at Oswego Alliance church and the dinner at King Arthurs. I HIGHLY recommend going to king Arthur's in Oswego for your rehearsal dinner or even for a wedding under 75 people. The food was amazing, the service was great, and it was awesome that we had a floor to ourselves. Never before have I seen everyone getting up and dancing at a rehersal dinner. We had so much fun! Friday night Isaac and the guys got room #1 at King Arthurs. This is a two bedroom suite on the third floor of king Arthur's. Again I HIGHLY recommend that if you need a place to stay and get ready before the wedding with a large group book this room at King Arthur's. There was 10 guys in the room and they still had lots of room. I think the cost was a little under $20 for each guy. Then Saturday us girls went to InVogue Salon right in Oswego. We drank our share of mimosa's as we all got our hair done. Following we got ready at Fallbrook and then headed over to Oswego Alliance for a gorgeous ceremony. Jessmyn was absolutely stunning. We all cried a lot as we watched our best friends tie the knot. The fun continued as we went back to Fallbrook and took photos. My friend Meghan Thomas (www.MeghanThomasPhotography.com) was the photographer. As I expected she did a fabulous job! I cannot wait to see the photos. I picked up the camera only for the rehearsal dinner and for our Sunday get together. I trusted Meghan so I didn't ever feel a need to take a photo. With that being said I have no photos to show you of the wedding day.
I have attached a bunch of photos that we took throughout the time together. The first one is of the groom Matt pretending to be a groomzilla.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be in Saratoga until Wednesday. My sister and her husband are up with my nephew. I haven't seen them in over 8 months so i want to take some time to catch up. I will be able to respond to e-mail though! Well hope your enjoying this amazing weather! If you want to go out to lunch Thursday or Friday this week am free. Isaac and I love getting to know you all. Have a great Sunday!

People ask why hire a professional:

A lot of people have come up to me lately asking why they should hire a professional. Here is some of my input.
This past week I officially joined PPSNY, short for Professional Photography Society of New York. I am very excited to be a part of a very prestigious organization. PPSNY is the state branch of PPA (Professional Photographers of America). Sorry for all the acronyms. Isaac and I feel that to better our business and to better our photography it is extremely important to be a part of something bigger. By being accountable to a larger organization we stay on top of our business practices and photography skills. I was away all last week at a photography workshop with 100 other photographers. The skills learned and friendships made will help me become a better photographer. That is why hiring a professional photographer, like myself, is worth paying for.
When you hire a professional photographer you not only get a person who knows their equipment inside and out, you also get a person that has a better understanding of what makes a photograph perfect. Professional photographers have trained eyes, who will get the shot no matter what. Any person can buy a digital camera and know how to push the shutter button and take a picture. Not everyone knows how to take a true photograph which includes composition, lighting, posing, and how to capture the true emotion of your day, while dealing with time restrictions and crowd control. This all goes for printing photographs as well.

What a week!!!

I just got back from a week in Geneva. I was at a photography workshop put on by the Professional Photographers Society of New York, so sorry if I haven't returned an e-mail or phone call yet. I had so much fun and learned A LOT of new things. I have this new found love for portraits. I love the emotion that a professional portrait can capture. Yesterday right after I got back from my workshop Isaac and I packed up our car and headed to Syracuse to shoot Heather and Dan's wedding. It was a beautiful day filled with laughter. I will post some images of their wedding after I show you a photograph that I took tonight. This evening Isaac and I drove down to Marcellus and took a family portrait at their house. There were 10 adults and 7 children. What a great time we had! We couldn't have asked for any better weather. Here is one photo from the session. Once I get some more time and it isn't 1am I will post some more of my favorites.

Okay here are some from Heather and Dan's Wedding:

New NEWS

New news? Isn't all news NEW? Anyways I have caught up on all of my work so I have a couple extra minutes before I dive into printing out some photos for a client.

Well I have finally joined Syracusewedding.com as a vendor. I have been to a couple of their amazing bridal shows and have had intentions of joining for over a year now. I finally realized that I needed to go ahead and sign up. So now my business will be listed on SyracuseWedding.com.

Exciting day for me! I am in the process of packing and getting ready for my photography workshop I am going to this Sunday. Isaac and I try to attend at least 1 workshop every year to keep up on our photography skills and trends in weddings/Portraits. This year I am going to Geneva, NY and will be venturing into Lifestyle Portraiture for a week. I feel like I could use a freshening up of my portrait and lighting skills. So if you call us next week I will not be here, but Isaac & Maggie will be in the office all week. I will have my laptop with me in hopes of finding some WIFI connection in the area so I can stay connected to all of you via e-mail.

Alright well I have to start on my new project for the day. Have a great day.

Michael & Michelle's wedding

It is after 1am and I am up very late because I drank too much coffee at the wedding. Today Isaac and I shot Michael & Michelle Baroody's wedding. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful at St Stephen's church in Oswego. Then we headed over to Bayshore Grove right on Lake Ontario to take some photos and wait for the reception to start. The rain held up long enough to get a bunch of shots with many different people. We really enjoyed the DJ's, who were Sound Junction, out of Fulton. They kept the party rolling without being obnoxious.
I had an idea tonight that it would be cool to burn a DVD of the photographs right before we leave the reception. This way the bride and groom can take the photos with them on the ride to their honeymoon spot. The photos would have to be completely unedited, that is why I am not quite sure about the idea. I will think it over and let you know. What do you guys think about it?
I really enjoy being a part of your special day. Best wishes and have fun in Hawaii!
Here are some photos from tonight:

Lucky Sevens!

Today is finally hear. Some people say it will be their luckiest day ever. We have two weddings today. Isaac and I are splitting up for the first time. I will be shooting Jennifer & Anthony's wedding in Oswego while Isaac travels up to Alex Bay to shoot Jillian & Justin's wedding. We will try to post some images from their weddings ASAP.

Sorry I never got around to posting images from last weekends weddings. We had two weddings, which makes us very busy the week following. Here is a photo from both of their weddings:
