Nice snow!

Here are a few photos from our snowstorm. My friend Catherine and I decided it would be a great idea to snowshoe to the river walk from my house. It was so nasty out, and once we got there the lower part of the river walk was under water! It was really awesome to see all the ice chucks rushing down the river. The photos from Warm Up Oswego are online, and I am currently sorting thorough them all to find the best of the best for my blog and for their website. Have a good day!

I tend to take photos of my friends when they don't know it's coming... They also often leave me behind because I'm always stopping to get the next greatest photo opp.

Also Isaac just got a full-time teaching job at APW. He starts Thursday so things may be a little behind on Thursday and Friday as I adjust to being the only one in the office during the day.

Whats up with Oswego?

I was driving around today running errands and I noticed alot of "odd" things. For instance there were about 5 huge tractor trailers all parked on the side of W 1st St. I was going to the end of the West pier to check out the lake and boom! I noticed what I think is a huge salt pile at the end of the pier. Also I drove past Coleman's and they are closed! This makes me very sad. This is my favorite place... I would go as far to say that we are even regulars since we know almost everyones name that work there. I'm sure that whatever the reason they closed is for a good reason. I know what it is like to run a business in Oswego. It is good in the summer, but once winter comes everyone hides!

I bought a new camera this past weekend. I got a Canon digital ELPH! it is a tiny little thing. I needed a point and shoot to bring with me when we go skiing, snowshoeing or any other fun adventure I do not want to lug around our big guys. I'm so excited to be able to have a camera in my purse at all times!

Isaac went back to school. He decided to start his masters in English at Oswego. He started a few weeks ago. After he was having a hard time finding a job he decided we wouldnt waste precious "free" time just waiting for a job, so he decided getting a jump start on his masters would be good. He also go a Grad Assistantship with the Civic Engagement group on campus. His job is to get the college out into the community and the community to the college. It is really cool because both Isaac and I feel strongly about how the campus community and the local community need to interact more.

If you haven't taken a look at the Warm Up Oswego photos you should do so! I will forewarn you though, they are not color-balanced or brightened or anything. I just wanted to get them online as fast as possible. Thats it for my rambling for now.

Warm Up Oswego reviewed

Today Isaac and I spent all day at the YMCA armory photographing Warm Up Oswego. It was such a blast. If you didn't make it out this year you need to check it out next year. Every year it gets better and better. It has been a long day so I am not going to post preview pics tonight. I will do that tomorrow. However I just wanted to say how much FUN we had being with everyone. It was so great to get out and be part of the community. From a 2k Fun, to break dancing demonstrations, then onto fireworks and a fiesta at Steamers, it was all wonderful. I will have so many fun photos to preview on my blog tomorrow. I will have the photos online by Wed (I hope). We took almost 2000 photos throughout the day, not including the ones we took at the fiesta. If anyone has any questions or comments please let us know. I will leave you with the last photo of the night right before we left the Fiesta. I was happy even though I look mad... ENJOY!

Warm Up Oswego

Today I am not feeling to well. I have been dragging around the house and office all day. This morning Isaac went to a meeting for me for Warm Up Oswego, which is going on THIS Saturday. If you do not know about Warm Up Oswego yet, it is a winter festival that takes place in downtown Oswego and the YMCA Armory. It is from 12-6pm. You can check out the schedule of events on their website. Isaac and I will be around town all day taking photographs. We will have a table set up in the armory with all of our stuff and also we're hoping to have a slide show of the photos we have taken going throughout the day. So if you see either one of us come say hi!

Isaac and I photographed two weddings last weekend. We wanted to let everone know that the photos will be up by this Monday. We have over 600 images from each wedding to go through and we want to make sure they look perfect before we put them online! Check back soon and you will be able to view the photos. Saratoga!

I am still in Saratoga! It is almost 6pm on Wed. I have been trying to leave all day but I have been so busy finishing up things from the hockey tournament. On Sunday Isaac hit something in the road and busted a *new* tire and bent our rim. So at the end of this week and $600 later we will have one completely new wheel. Our car is awesome but we have had the WORST luck with the tires. Since we have been stuck here waiting for our tire to come in we have tried to get a lot of work done and have some fun. Isaac and I went snowshoeing in my parents backyard (13acres) last night. The moon was so bright we didn't even need out headlamps. We were having fun playing around with the camera in the dark. We were using 30 sec. exposures... which is a lot! Here are some fun shots! We were just having a good time messing around with light!

Mid-Winter Classic Hockey Tournament

This weekend Isaac and I had the pleasure of being the official photographers for the Adirondack Northstars Midwinter Classic ice hockey tournament. (Isaac also was a vendor at a bridal show today... it was a busy weekend). The tournament was held in Glens falls and Lake George, NY. I played for the Northstars from 5th-12th grade. Sick!

Both Isaac and I have been sick since the weekend. So we sincerely apologize if we have not returned your phone call or email yet. We are trying to get all of our prep work done for our hockey tournament this weekend while trying to get better. With that being said Isaac and I will be taking our sick bodies to Glens Falls tomorrow through Sunday for the annual Northstars Winter Classic. This is always one of the most fun events we do all winter. We will post photos as soon as we get a chance!

Fun photo shoot

Today I was reading an article about hiring photographers and videographers for your wedding. Here is the quote:

"Since most photography is posed, it doesn't really show the feeling of the day. With videography, you get to see the bride's spontaneous smile, the groom leaning in for a kiss, the flower girl dancing with the ring bearer, and much more."
This is why you should not always listen to those bridal advice columns. This quote could not be more wrong. As photographers it is our job and our passion to capture the spontaneity of your wedding. We want to capture the emotion of the day, the laughs and the tears. We are trained professionals to watch people for a living. I even catch myself while driving saying "Ohh look at those people over there, that would be a GREAT photo opp."

On another note Isaac and I went out to SUNY Oswego last Friday and took some shots in the freezing cold. We wanted to just have fun and in the meantime we found some amazing places to take photos... such as Sheldon Hall on campus.

Do Good Swing Band

The Thursday before Christmas Isaac and I had the opportunity to photograph the Do Good Swing band. This was not the first time we have had the privilege to work with this band. Bridal Show

Today Isaac and I had the privilege to show our photography at the SyracuseWedding.com Bridal show at Drivers Village. We met so many wonderful brides grooms, moms and dads, bridesmaids, and grandparents. Tomorrow we will be announcing a promotion for everyone that attended the bridal show. Merry Christmas

I hope all of you that celebrated Christmas this past week had a wonderful holiday. It is so great to celebrate the birth of christ with family and friends. Isaac and I had a great time hosting Christmas Eve at our new place! We made a fancy dinner and even used our china for the first time. We then drove to Saratoga EARLY Christmas morning and have been here since just hanging out with family and visiting with old friends. We just wanted to let you know that we will not be home until Friday morning. We were planning on heading back to Oswego tonight but we have now gotten snowed in. Our car is stuck in a ditch a mile from my parents house. I will keep you updated one when we will be returning.

Nick & Nicole's engagement session

Today we had the chance to shoot Nick & Nicole's engagement/portrait session. It was a great time to get to know them. These two are great together. They have such great chemistry. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding next summer. It will be at one of my favorite places: Fallbrook in Oswego. Here are some of my favorites from their photo session:

New Portraits!

Today Isaac, Catherine (one of our assistants), and I had the privilege to take three portraits. We have 10 days left of our half off portrait sessions, so things are busy around here. It was so great to get to know each and every family as we went along.

The first portrait we took was a Christmas/engagement portrait of Tom & Shantel. We are photographing their wedding in October of 2008. This was a great time to get to know the bride and groom before the big day. We even had a chance to take a family portrait with their two adorable dogs.




Second we photographed Tanner. This portrait was to celebrate his 8th birthday. He was a little shy at first but once we got talking about sports, school, and his dog, he warmed up to us.


Lastly we shot the Benjamin kids. What a joy to be able to shoot this family's portrait. The kids were awesome and a lot of fun. I can tell they had a good time since they were posing and laughing throughout the whole session.
